Alex Galchenyuk has had a turbulent NHL career. Once seen as a foundational player with the Montreal Canadians, he was traded multiple times, won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche last year, and terminated his new contract only a few days after details of an arrest emerged.

According to the NY Post, Galchenyuk struck a curb and sign while driving in Scottsdale. He sat on the ground for a couple of minutes before another person showed up and picked up Galchenyuk in another vehicle. They were pulled over, and police noticed both men were heavily intoxicated.

Galchenyuk, who grew up in Russia, was arrested and booked into a Scottsdale jail.

During his arrest, he began yelling at the officers, saying he was going to chop an officer and his daughter up, and said it would only take one phone call from him to have another officer’s entire “bloodline” be killed.

Galchenyuk had just resigned with the Coyotes for a third stint with the team. He signed a one-year $775,000 deal, but the Coyotes filed paperwork just days after the contract was signed to terminate it.

Both team and player have yet to comment on the arrest.
