Bodycam footage from DaniLeigh’s DUI hit-and-run arrest in May 2023 has been released, showing the R&B singer’s attempt to use her celebrity status to avoid arrest.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, shows DaniLeigh visibly intoxicated and pleading with Miami police officers not to arrest her while denying that she had struck anyone with her car.
DaniLeigh did, in fact, hit a 17-year-old in the incident, knocking them off of a moped and causing serious injuries, including a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture.
In additional police footage, she can be seen driving off after the accident and was only stopped after authorities attempted to pull her over multiple times. Witnesses nearby also confirmed that she left the scene without stopping.
When she later interacted with the officers, she repeatedly denied that she hit anyone. At another point in the bodycam video, she can be seen getting emotional and mentioning that she is with the rapper Quavo, who appears briefly in the video alongside his security team.
As she’s taken away in handcuffs, DaniLeigh can be heard crying and saying, “I didn’t hit nobody.” A Breathalyzer test later revealed that her blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit.
Following her arrest, DaniLeigh was booked on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and DUI causing property damage.
She would plead no contest in February to a misdemeanor DUI charge and a felony charge for DUI causing serious injury. All other charges will reportedly be dropped if she completes her court-ordered five years of probation.
DaniLeigh’s attorney, Michael Catalano, claimed at the time that the victim was at fault for the accident.
