Following a break-in at her home, a DeKalb County, GA woman is finding herself in hot water for shooting the same man a day after the intrusion took place.

According to WSBTV, the woman -who asked not to be named- had encountered the intruder the night prior, when he kicked in their door and entered their home.

The intruder, identified as Demarcus McDowell, had been allegedly stalking the family  a week prior to the home invasion, after the father of the household confronted him for harassing their neighbors.

The family claims that the intrusion began around 10PM last Tuesday, when the sound of doorknob jiggling.

“I opened up the door and this predator guy I’ve seen periodically in our community, he was just standing there,” the father said.

Though McDowell left, he returned around midnight, this time kicking the door in and entering the house.

“I’m still asleep” the father recollected saying when the mother instructed him to wake up.

The father recalls accessing the family firearm and finding McDowell inside the house. He opened fire but cannot confirm whether or not he hit McDowell.

“I went up under my bed and grabbed my firearm again. By the time I got ready, he was already in my house and the only thing I did was fire the shot at him and he disappeared.”

The following day, the parents encountered McDowell again while picking up their children at the bus stop, only this time he was carrying a pole.

While the father called 911, his wife shot McDowell three times in the parking lot of their apartment complex.

Unfortunately for the mother, because McDowell wasn’t actively breaking into the family’s residence at the time, police arrested and charged the mother with aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, McDowell was last reported in DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held on first degree burglary charges with a cash-only bond of $10,000.
