A 30-year-old mother of five in Florida has been arrested after filing a false sexual assault report- which just so happened to set off a chain of events that ended with her neighbor being killed.
Largo resident Brittany Sorey filed a sexual assault report earlier this year, claiming that a Hispanic man broke into her apartment, penetrated her with a box cutter and a broken broom handle, and then left.
At the time of the claim, Sorey and her husband Gerald were behind in their rent and had been handed an eviction notice.
After moving out of the apartment, the couple allowed a male friend to take up the lease.
According to police reports provided by The Smoking Gun, the friend was at the apartment on May 10th when he heard a person banging on the door.
On the other side of the door was a neighbor, who was unaware that the Sorey family had left, and was looking to recoup some money that he had lent them.
Unsure what to do, the friend called Sorey and explained the situation. Taking things further, Sorey claimed that the voice of the neighbor sounded like the man who allegedly raped her.
Wanting to get a photo of the potential rapist, the friend got into a scuffle with the neighbor and killed him in self-defense.
Sorey has been arrested for filing a false police report.
