Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco has only been on the job for three months, but he’s already identified the problem that’s plagued the office for years, his predecessor.
In an interview with the Press-Enterprise, Sheriff Bianco details the falsehoods the former sheriff spread and his plan to aggressively hire more than 600 new deputies by June.
Sheriff Bianco spoiled then Sheriff Stan Sniff attempt for re-election last November.
Sniff says his complaints about a shrinking budget are true and dismissed any blame from the new sheriff.
Still, Sheriff Bianco told the paper he, “quickly learned that we don’t have a budget problem. And we’ve never had a budget problem. Honestly, we’ve had a sheriff problem.”
He intends to beef up patrols in unincorporated parts of Riverside County, something that’s been severely lacking.
He’s short by nearly 250 deputies when it comes to those areas.
The former sheriff still doesn’t believe his replacement will have the money to fulfill his hiring spree. He told the paper, “it’s impossible.”
