A watchdog group has filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Justice Department over its use of sending federal agents to quell the unrest in cities like Portland.

According to Gizmodo, American Oversight sued six agencies in total on Thursday. The lawsuit and Freedom of Information Act requests are designed to dig up information pertaining to directions the federal officers recieved and their actions while on deployment.

American Oversight also wants any “assessments, reports, or recommendations prepared for senior officials regarding data or intelligence collected” during the protests.

Lawsuits like this typically take months to clear up and the DOJ will likely be able to keep many of its records due to it pertaining classified information.

In total, the nonprofit is suing six U.S. agencies. They include ICE, DHS, CBP, the National Guard, and the DOD.
