Virginia police officer calls in final 1042 to his son


A final 1042 for retiring Sergeant Robert Monk. The Bedford Virginia police officer has been patrolling the town for 22 years and in a viral video signed off for the final time.

Sergeant Monk’s daughter filmed the call in, and his son was on the other dispatch line.

Sgt. Monk has been spent more than 25 years of his life as a protector. He was a Marine, Sheriff’s Deputy, and lastly a police officer.

In the radio call, Sgt. Monk’s son told his father, “it’s time to come home pops.”

After his son’s acknowledgment, other officers radioed in their congrats.

The video has been viewed more than 60,000 times.
