A Virginia Beach Police officer was stabbed by a 17-year-old boy after the juvenile was involved in an armed robbery in the early Wednesday morning hours.
Police report that an officer was flagged down around half-past two in the morning by someone claiming they were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint. Eventually, the one of the suspects -who initially fled the area- was tracked down and taken into custody, sustaining minor injuries due to apprehension by the clever K9 who hunted him down.
Officers were later called to the home of another suspect, a 17-year-old involved in a domestic dispute. When the officers -including an eight-year veteran of the department- attempted to detain him, he stabbed the veteran officer, wounding the officer and securing himself an attempted capital murder charge.
Police say the teen was involved in the assault and robbery that had happened earlier. Both suspects allegedly worked together in the robbery and are 17 years of age.
According to Wavy, the first suspect was charged with robbery, conspiracy and use of a firearm in a felony. In addition to attempted capital murder on a police officer, his knife-happy accomplice will additional charges of robbery, malicious assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit robbery.
The wounded officer is out of surgery and is now recovering at home.
