A Chilean police officer opened fire on an Uber driver who repeatedly rammed him with his car.
The incident was recorded from two different points of view, the first showing the driver attempting to leave the scene, forcefully bumping the Carabinero with his vehicle and ultimately getting shot as a result.
In separate footage, the driver can be seen as he is loaded on a gurney and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to Cooperativa, Chilean President Sebastián Piñera said the incident is a glaring example of how Chileans need to respect authority.
“The time has come for all of us to learn to respect our authorities, to respect our Carabinieri, because the Carabineros, when they are more respected and better protected, not only deserve it, but also comply more effectively,” he said. “His work to protect us, all the citizens of our country.”
