A D.C. police officer may be the subject behind a new department policy following an incident with a illegal street ATV rider that was caught on video.
The officer is seen attempting to jump off of his bicycle to grab the 4-wheeler rider but doesn’t quite make it, and falls flat on the ground.
Groups of teens have become a menace to other drivers and the public in general in areas like Washington D.C. and Baltimore. Most department policies don’t allow for officers to pursue them at high speeds as it may present a danger to the public or the nuisances they are trying to apprehend.
Unfortunately, the ATV and dirt bike riders know this and take full advantage of the officers who, by department directive, have their hands tied.
The video shows the slow speed chase through the city as the riders taunt the officers following them and laughing as the officer falls to the ground. He was reported to only have minor injuries.
