A Flagstaff Police Officer was forced to shoot and kill a man carrying two knives after he charged at the officers in a parking lot. According to the Police Department, two officers were leaving a mental health facility after responding to a call Sunday morning.
On their way to their patrol car, 47-year-old Russell Harold confronted the two officers flashing a knife in each hand. Both officers activated their body cameras as they pulled their guns from their holsters.
In the video, you can hear them telling the man to put the knives down. Within seconds Harold charged and officer Tyler Romney opened fire to subdue the accused attacker.
The officers called for an ambulance and performed lifesaving measures, though Harold was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Both officers were not injured. No word if either officer has been put on administrative leave.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident.
