The Lancaster Ohio Police Department has released body cam video of an arrest of a man carrying a gun in the name of transparency.
According to the department’s Facebook post, the three officers responded to a call of a distraught man carrying a pistol.
Once on scene, the officers drew their weapons and shouted commands at the armed man.
The man then fired one shot into the air but not directly at the officers.
He did eventually set the gun down on the ground and was on his knees, but had not fully complied with the officer’s command to get on the ground.
That’s when the officer, not knowing the intentions of the man, kicked him onto his stomach.
The man, as seen in the video, does catch himself with his hands as the officers then put him in handcuffs.
The suspect was transported to the hospital as a precaution and was uninjured.
The department is still reviewing the incident.
