Jun. 2—A 36-year-old man was shot outside a police precinct in Harlem Saturday night after allegedly threatening people with a knife, NBC News is reporting.
According to police, the incident occurred in the vicinity of the 23rd Precinct in East Harlem around 5:30 p.m. when officers allegedly saw the man attempting to stab a victim, the report said.
A taser was later deployed to no effect after police say the man refused to follow orders to drop the knife and lunged at several people, nearly slashing a member of the NYPD in the face.
As per the outlet, an officer eventually fired one round, hitting the man in the back.
The man was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition while the investigation continues, the report said.
