A moped rider was arrested after leading a Mount Pleasant police officer on a not-so-high-speed chase before losing control of the small vehicle.
It all started when the officer noticed the moped didn’t have a registration sticker and the rider wasn’t sitting on the moped properly. The officer initiated the traffic stop, which is when the moped took off.
After a brief chase, the moped rider attempted to lose the officer in a nearby park but his attempt was foiled as the moped couldn’t make it across railroad tracks. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was captured shortly thereafter.
The 26-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing and driving with a suspended license.
