Dramatic video has been released of a mob storming through a Tampa gun store after ramming the storefront window with a pickup truck.
At least a dozen people are seen streaming into the store on W. Waters Avenue, taking as much as they can in a matter of minutes. The incident happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday, officials said.
FOX13 reports that a representative from an alarm company notified the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office about the break in.
Richard Smith, owner of the Tampa Arms Company Guns and Ammo store, told the Fox station:
“We did the maximum that we could do to secure the facility. There were bars across the entire front facade…State-of-the-art alarm system, camera system inside… Unfortunately that’s just not going to stop somebody with a 6,000 pound truck smashing through there.”
The entire incident took place in under five minutes. Two vehicles were reportedly caught on camera leaving the scene.
Smith says his main concern is not so much the loss of property, but the fact that all these stolen guns could now be on the streets, in the wrong hands.
Anyone with information about this crime is being urged to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
