A Baytown police officer shot and killed a woman outside an apartment complex after the two got into a struggle while he was attempting to arrest her.
The incident was captured on video and shared on social media.
According to CBS News, the officer had prior encounters with the woman and knew she had outstanding warrants.
He had approached her to arrest her.
In the video, you see the two struggle. At one point the officer used his taser to try to subdue him.
According to the officer, he then got up and shot the woman after she had gained possession of the taser and was attempting to use it on him.
That was the reason why he used deadly force.
People KHOU11 spoke with said the officer regularly patrols that parking lot.
In the video, you do hear the woman yell out that she was pregnant, though that has not been substantiated yet.
The Baytown Police Department has released a statement saying in part, “It is very early in the investigation.”
