Video of deputy shooting groundhog on Maryland road goes viral

Video of a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy fatally shooting a groundhog that was acting erratic in front of motorists is going viral.

The video shows the deputy stopping traffic and trying to get the animal clear of the roadway. However the groundhog continues to follow the officer and act in an unusual manner for that type of animal.

Not knowing if the groundhog was rabid, the deputy fatally shot the animal.

Department spokesperson Cpl. Jon Light said, “it doesn’t appear that it had bitten anyone at that point.” “You see the groundhog coming after the officer. At this point in time, the animal was not acting as a normal animal would. It is within our policy to dispose of any animal that could pose a health threat,” Light said, according to the Baltimore Sun.

  1. If video tapping from the safety of a vehicle………..50 yds away, and then commenting “OMG….this aint happening right now! Im going to F#$%ing cry” after seeing the officer shoot the animal is the perfect example of someone who’s been spoon fed and protected from reality all their yound adult life. My suggestion would be, you shouldve filmed it just a few feet away from the animal. That way as it chases you and tries to chew your face off, you would understand alot better what “reality” is.
