A Las Vegas smoke shop owner was confronted by two would-be thieves wearing masks during an afternoon shift when he decided that he would not be a victim and grabbed a knife near his cash register.

According to the NY Post, Johnny Nguyen saw the two men in ski masks and questioned why they were wearing them. That’s when one grabbed the tip jar and the other jumped over the counter. Nguyen then reached for his knife and began stabbing one of the thieves multiple times.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say Nguyen stabbed the one thief seven times. At one point he yelled out, “Stop! I’m dead!”

That thief was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police are investigating the matter.

Nguyen told local media that he plans on arming himself further after the confrontation left him “shaken.”
