Vancouver, Wash. – On September 9, 2015 the Vancouver Police Department will be holding a Girl Cops Are Awesome event.

The Vancouver Police Department recently found out Kinley Goertler, a local girl who went with her mother to buy a SWAT costume for Halloween, only to be disappointed that the packaging seemed to indicate it was a boy’s costume. Kinley’s mom posted the info about Kinley on Facebook and female police officers from around the country have reached out to Kinley to let her know how awesome girl cops are.
After hearing about Kinley’s experience, the Vancouver Police Department decided there might be other girls like Kinley who might want to meet some awesome girl cops too. The Girls Cops are Awesome event is open to girls of all ages who want to meet some awesome girl cops and learn more about a career opportunities in law enforcement. Female officers from the Vancouver Police Department will be giving the girls a tour of the precinct, a tour of various vehicles, and members of the recruitment team will be on hand to answer questions from attendees who might be interested in a career in law enforcement. The girls can also meet the inspiration behind this event, Kinley Goertler who will be our special guest.
