Update: Suspect in Southern California terror plot was former U.S. army soldier, wanted to pledge allegiance to ISIS

Update 4:08 p.m.:
The suspect, identified as Mark Domingo, is a former U.S. Army solider who served in Afghanistan and a recent convert to Islam.

He obtained pressure cooker bombs filled with 3-inch nails. He intended to detonate the IED at a rally being held at Long Beach this past weekend.

Mr. Domingo was picked up Friday night in an undercover operation.

He had been planning the attack for at least two months. He even referenced repeating an attack similar to the Las Vegas shooting and wanted to pledge allegiance to ISIS if they established a chapter in the U.S.

According to KABC, A person suspected of planning a major terrorist strike on “multiple targets” in Southern California has been arrested.

The suspect, has not been identified yet, was charged with domestic terrorism charges.



A press conference will be held this afternoon where officials will reveal more details.
