A Minnesota police officer has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the killing of a black man in a St. Paul suburb.
Prosecutors announced the charge against St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez on Wednesday.
Yanez fatally shot 32-year-old Philando Castile during a July 6 traffic stop in Falcon Heights. The shooting’s gruesome aftermath was streamed live on Facebook by Castile’s girlfriend, who was with him. She said Castile was shot while reaching for his ID after telling Yanez he had a gun permit and was armed.
Yanez is Latino. Castile was black.
Family members claim Castile was racially profiled. Yanez’s attorney has said the officer made the stop because Castile looked like a possible match for an armed robbery suspect, and Yanez reacted to the presence of a gun.

Such a steaming pile of male bovine excrement. So let’s get this straight.. 1) person is pulled over as a possible ARMED robbery suspect 2) said person tells officer ” I have a gun, but I have a CCW 3) officer responds by telling said person to keep your hands where I can see them 4) “Rational” person proceeds to disregard instructions from the officer and proceeds to reach for his “ID” 5) officer responds to this action the only way a rational person would DRT. 6) Officer gets charged with 2nd dergree manslaughter because a ARMED robbery suspect who just told the officer he was armed did not obey the lawful orders of said officer. Again a steaming pile of male bovine excrement, but what do you expect from a deep blue state like MN.
BLUE LIVES MATTER!!!
