UPDATE: Education Board Member Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad has formally apologized to South Orange Police Chief Kyle Kroll, whom she referred to as a “Skinhead.”
“I have personally apologized to Chief Kyle Kroll who, like me, is passionate about our community,” Lawson-Muhammad said, as reported by FOX News. “He sincerely accepted my apology and agrees that we will work together to help heal our community. We have begun plans to work with community stakeholders to build stronger bonds and greater trust for the entire community.”
Lawson-Muhammad also praised the officer for keeping a cool head during the ordeal.
Earlier:
A member of the South Orange and Maplewood Board of Education in New Jersey went on a hysterical tirade against a police officer who pulled her over for speeding last month.
Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad was caught on dash-cam telling a police officer to exercise “civic privilege” when she was pulled over on April 27, going into a panic-attack like state before calling the officer’s supervisor a “skinhead.”
When pulled over for doing 37 in a 25, she identified herself to South Orange Police Officer Shaun Horst.
“My name is Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad, I’m on the school board, I’m a community member of this town. I’m sorry if I was speeding,” she said before adding, ““And I’m scared of cops, because you guys hurt black people.”
Going into hysterics and sobbing, Horst asked if she needed medical attention.
“Ma’am, do you want me to call an ambulance?” Horst asked with apparent concern. “You look like you might be having a panic attack, or some anxiety.”
“No I don’t want you to call me an ambulance,” Lawson-Muhammad quipped. “That was a f—–g insult.”
She even goes so far as to say, “I’m scared of cops, because you hurt black people.”
Lawson-Muhammad -who is married to the great-grandson of Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad- did not respond well after she was handed a court summons.
“Now you want me to go to court? I don’t wanna go to court- I have insurance, he [her husband] can text you a picture of it right now,” she said.
Horst explained that once a summons is written, it must be delivered.
“Then I’ll call Sheena, and your skinhead cop chief, too,” she said, “Sheena” being Sheena Collum, the president of the South Orange Village.
According to The Village Green, Lawson-Muhammad has yet to respond for comment.
