A Dekalb County Police Officer has died after being shot by a suspect who fled a traffic stop on foot. The suspect shot the officer during the pursuit.
The officer had been with the department less than 2 years.
Responding officers and a K-9 unit tracked the suspect to where he was hiding behind a business. As they approached, the suspect shot the K-9, and fired upon officers before being shot multiple times. The K-9 was taken to a local veterinarian and the suspect was taken to a hospital; both were in critical condition but the suspect is now being reported as deceased.
The suspect was identified as a male in his 20’s or 30’s
Several nearby roads have been closed.
