Update: 9 students, 1 teacher killed in today’s shooting at Texas high school; explosive devices found in and near school

Update: 12:41 a.m. (local time) – 9 students and 1 teacher were killed in today’s shooting. 6 more were wounded and sent to the hospital. The suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis. The second person that was detained is now believed to be an accomplice and is in custody.

Update: 11:32 a.m. (local time) – Authorities at a recent press conference have confirmed explosive devices were used in today’s attack and have been placed at locations in and near the school. Authorities are urging people in the area to report anything suspicious they find to police immediately.

The suspect has been identified as a 17-year-old male student at Santa Fe High School.

Update: 10:05 a.m. (local time) – At least 8 people are reported killed and several injured in this morning’s school shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

The suspected gunman is in custody, and a second person is was also detained. The gunman is believed to be a student at the school.

One of those wounded is a Santa Fe ISD police officer, according to the Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Update: 9:37 a.m. (local time) – Law enforcement sources are confirming there are multiple fatalities in this morning’s shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas, according local news affiliates.

The shooter is reported to either be deceased or in custody. One law enforcement officer was reportedly shot as well, according to KHOU 11. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Multiple agencies are responding to calls of an active shooter at Santa Fe High School in Texas, authorities have confirmed.

Life Flight emergency medical transport is also responding to the scene.

The school is located approximately 30 miles from Houston and his home to 1,400 students.

The gunman reportedly walked into an art class and opened fire with what appeared to be a shotgun, according to CNN.

KHOU is also reporting that there are injuries a the scene and law enforcement officers have exchanged gunfire with the suspect.
