UPDATE: Today’s deadly attack in Toronto left 9 dead and another 16 injured, according to authorities at a press conference that just concluded. Authorities have also stated that the rampage was intentional.
The suspect is in custody.

Police are reporting that a white van jumped a curb and drove for more than half a mile on a sidewalk while mowing down several pedestrians just north of downtown Toronto before fleeing the scene.
Initial reports are that 8-10 people were struck but that number is likely to increase and fatalities are likely. The Ryder van he was driving was later found abandoned and the driver is now in custody.
Aerial video from the scene shows multiple people lying on the ground injured.
Subway service in the area has been suspended and people are being asked to avoid the area.
