The boyfriend of a Louisiana police officer who was brutally murdered last week, along with two other individuals, have been arrested in her killing.
Treveon Anderson, Lawrence Pierre and Glenn Firerson were arrested in connection to the slaying of Shreveport Police Officer Chateri Payne, after she was murdered outside of her home on January 9.
Payne’s boyfriend, Anderson, is believed to have committed the murder before making up a story to throw off SPD investigators. Pierre and Frierson are believed to be accomplices.
According to NBC News, Anderson was brought in on the night of the shooting, telling detectives that he was inside the home when he heard gunfire. Heading outside, he fired at an individual he believed to be the suspect before noticing that Payne had been hit. He called 911.
Shreveport PD Chief Ben Raymond, however, said that evidence points to Anderson shooting Payne multiple times, leaving the mother of one mortally wounded. She would eventually succumb to her wounds at the hospital.
Investigators are not expounding on how Pierre and Frierson are involved, but all three men are facing second-degree murder charges.
Payne was a rookie officer at the time of her slaying, having only been out of the police academy since November of last year.
