A shooting has taken place at Grambling State University, leaving two dead at the historically black northern Louisiana college.
911 calls rang out just after midnight in concern of a double homicide and shots fired.
Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Williams said local law enforcement teamed up with campus police on the matter, which appears to have stemmed from an altercation.
“It was an altercation that started inside one of the dorm rooms and spilled out into the courtyard,” Williams said. “We’re interviewing witnesses.”
The victims have been identified as two roommates -Earl Andrews and Monquiarius Caldwell- who were both 23 year of age.
Andrews’ aunt, Mattie Boyette, claims Andrews was a good kid and had no idea why anyone would want to shoot him.
“He was here at Grambling, good student, good kid. He just wanted an education. He just wanted to better himself,” Boyette said.
According to the Tampa Bay TImes, the shooting follows a similar incident last month which left an individual wounded. No suspects have been named in either shooting.
