Two Philadelphia police officers are recovering at a Philadelphia hospital after a suspected shooter opened fire at them after a brief car chase.
According to WPVI, police responded to a report of a shooting when they saw a pickup truck pull out at a high rate of speed. Two police vehicles pursued the vehicle until it crashed into one of the police cars Sunday morning.
The suspect then got out of the damaged pickup truck and opened fire at the officers. Two of the officers were struck, and the suspect was shot by one of the four total officers at the scene.
One officer was hit in the head while the other was struck in the face and leg.
The suspect is in critical condition.
The police department stated both officers were alive but did not elaborate on the status of their condition.
