Two Philadelphia police officers were badly beaten and bitten while trying to stop a suspect from breaking into a car in Juniata Park overnight.
Fox 29 reports that when the man was approached while trying to break into a Honda on East Atlantic Street, he went “ballistic.”
He started punching, kicking, head-butting and biting both the male and female officers. They suffered bites and wounds on their hands and arms.
The 32-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault on police. The local Fox station reports that the suspect is a known drug seller and user.
Chief Inspector Scott Small with Philadelphia PD told Fox 29 both uniformed officers were able to make the arrest after a very violent struggle. They were then transported to the hospital with bruises and open wounds from the bites.
Doctors say human bites can pose more danger than a dog bite. They can cause serious infections like Hepatitis B and C, HIV or even herpes can be passed through a human bite.
