Update: At least two officers were wounded in a shootout with 20-year-old Dominique Harris, who was wanted on child abuse charges.

As officers approached his vehicle, he attempted to flee, striking two police vehicles and then crashing into a concrete pole, according to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri. He then opened fire on officers, striking at least one in the torso.

Several officers returned fire, striking Harris who later died at a hospital.

The officer who was shot in the torso is recovering, while the other officer suffered a small leg injury, according to WFLA.
