A Guilford County deputy and North Carolina state trooper had to be hospitalized, after they crashed into each other, while searching for the same suspects.
This all took place Monday evening shortly after a red SUV crashed and flipped over along US Hwy 70. That accident scene was about a mile west of where the officers collided.
The trooper’s car ended up wrapped around a tree. He broke his leg and the Guilford County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries—according to local media reports.
The two had apparently been chasing after the same suspects that were in the red SUV, in the earlier accident. Police say the driver and passenger ran off into the nearby woods after crashing their vehicle, but it’s still unclear why they took off on foot.
According to WFMY, police set up a perimeter to search for the suspects. Authorities are still looking for the driver, but the passenger was taken into custody.
