It was a beautiful idea born from grief.
One Pennsylvania photographer– who lost her own stepson in a car accident– found a perfect way to honor a police officer tragically killed in a drunken driving crash.
According to Fox News Insider, Christy Boyd posted a moving photo tribute to Lt. Eric Eslary, who was killed in May by a drunken driver who had crossed into the wrong lane.
Eslary was a member of the Ligonier Township Police Department in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
The photo series — filled with creatively crafted messages in colorful frames– features Eslary’s widow, Mary Beth Taylor-Eslary and his loyal K-9 partner, Blek.
Fellow officers say Blek refused to leave Eslary’s side following the fatal crash.
Boyd says she got the idea to do the project with Eslary’s widow after she saw a photo shoot of a police widow and her three children.
Taylor-Eslary then suggested including Blek in the shoot. She says the K9 — as you can see in the pictures– is almost fully recovered from injuries sustained in the car crash. Blek will stay with Taylor-Eslary when he officially retires, according to the Fox report.
Boyd tells Fox News, “She never thought the photo shoot would get this much attention, but that she’s happy people all over the world will now remember Eslary.”
