Three evidence technicians for the Port St. Lucie Police Department have been arrested and face felony charges for “improperly disposing of evidence.”

According to the TC Palm, Thomas LaBelle Jr., Vernal Taylor, and Jeffery Hunter stole evidence and then either kept it for themselves or tried to sell it.

Port St. Lucie police say all of the evidence should have been destroyed or returned to the owner.

All of the evidence was from closed cases, so no active investigations have been affected by this scandal.

Items taken include guns, tools, and even electric toothbrushes.

Two of the three men have posted bail.
