California crooks used children as lookouts when they heisted over $1,400 worth of goods from a Santa Cruz Toys R’ Us.

Released surveillance footage from Toys R’ Us -which is currently already struggling and filed for bankruptcy in fall of last year- shows one man stealing several items from a counter without any resistance from passer-bys.

Meanwhile, child accomplices began emerging from the aisles, alerting the man whenever a staff member walked past.

Eventually, the man seems to relent and flee, but not before passing off some of the goods.

The Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office released the footage after acquiring it from the store,

“A recent theft at Toys ‘R Us turned out to be a highly orchestrated crew in action,” the agency wrote on Facebook. “Watch the video closely and see if you can identify how many people are involved. Based on the level of sophistication and planning, we are sure other stores have been victims of this crew.”
