A 13-year-old California student and substitute teacher got into an argument after the teacher confronted him over the Thin Blue Line mask he was wearing, and the conformation was caught on video by fellow students.
According to CBS Sacramento, the teacher told the student that the symbol he was wearing was not an American flag but instead the new “Confederate Flag.”
The teenager, Lucas Lillar, says he wears the mask in support of his father and step-mother, both of who work for local law enforcement agencies.
Lillar’s parents went to the principal after they were shown the video of the confrontation. The principal has vowed not to bring the teacher back to the school.
“I never had someone talk to me like that, yell at me in my face, especially a teacher,” said Lillar.
The school district is investigating the incident further.
The Thin Blue Line flag is meant to show support for law enforcement officers.
