Texas Democratic candidate for US Senate “Beto” O’Rourke showed his true colors when it comes to how he feels about law enforcement, referring to police as “the new Jim Crow” at a university on Wednesday.

Speaking at an event at Prairie View A&M University, O’Rourke mentioned historical injustices, such as arresting African-Americans for petty crime so that they would work in prison chain-gangs, often through elaborate collusive schemes between private and government sectors.

“That injustice, to many more people here than I know firsthand, continues to persist today,” Beto O’Rourke said. “That system of suspending somebody, solely based on the color of their skin, searching that person solely based on the color of their skin, stopping that person solely based on the color of their skin, shooting that person solely based on the color of their skin, throwing the book at that person and letting them rot behind bars solely based on the color of their skin, is why some have called this -I think it is an apt description- the new Jim Crow.”

A video recording of his comment was posted shortly after by the YouTube channel GOP War Room, and has around 17,336 views.
