A Knoxville man was arrested Saturday morning after trying to rob a Knoxville PD officer who was sitting in an unmarked car.
22-year-old Brandon A. Williams is being held on a $17,000 bond after being charged with attempted robbery, assault, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Williams approached an officer sitting in an unmarked police car in a grocery store parking lot and opened the passenger side door, stating “I’m here for the money.”
Though the officer identified himself as a police officer and drew his weapon with instructions for Williams to hit the deck, Williams attempted to flee. After being caught and subdued, Williams “aggressively resisted arrest”, ripping the officer’s ID from his neck.
Williams gave a full verbal confession on video, admitting he was trying to rob the officer of money.
