Dearborn police are trying to find the teens responsible for endangering their officers’ lives after they threw and shot fireworks at them during the 4th of July.

According to WXYZ, it was nearly midnight on Thursday when police visited a neighborhood for a noise complaint. Officers arrived seeing the large group of teens but without parents.

That’s when the teens began lobbing and shooting the fireworks at the officers. At one point, an officer got out of their car and chased a few teens away.

In another incident, a person threw a M-80 at an officer that exploded when it hit him. He suffered minor injuries.

Police say they responded to 200 calls about illegal fireworks use this year. That’s more than double what they normally receive.
