A group of teenage girls decided to take the law into their own hands when they attempted to set up a “Catch a Predator” like sting to expose a California man for soliciting underage girls.
According to WTAP, the girls were attempting to record proof that Roberty Dreyfus was soliciting and kidnapping underage girls in order to have sex with them.
The girls made contact with Dreyfus on social media and exchanged text messages before scheduling a meeting. During the meeting, Dreyfus convinced one of the girls to get into his vehicle to talk but instead drove away with the 17-year-old.
The victim messaged her friends, who then called the trained professionals.
Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle quickly and the one victim was unharmed.
The group of teenage girls said they intended to turn over everything they uncovered on Dreyfus over to the police.
Dreyfus is facing kidnapping, sending harmful matter to a minor, and other charges.
The sheriff’s department was forced to release a statement to the public that discouraged anyone, “from setting up meetings or contacting anyone for the purpose of catching an individual who is committing a crime.”
