An Illinois man wins the Mugshot Monday award for an ingenious attempt at providing a false identity to arresting officers.
Matthew C. Bushman was under investigation for forgery when he was caught giving a fake name.
While investigating forgery, officers in the city of Mattoon were speaking to the suspect, Bushman, when they noticed “Matty B” tattooed in black ink across his throat while he attempted to provide a false identity.
To further his attempt to “confuse” officers, he also gave an incorrect date of birth.
According to the NY Post, officers said, he was trying to dodge an arrest on an active warrant in Peoria County.
He was arrested on Oct. 11 and booked into the Coles County Jail on charges of forgery and obstructing justice, according to police and jail records.
