The Los Angeles Police Department released body cam footage on Monday depicting a violent encounter between officers and a DUI suspect.
The incident surrounds the arrest of Brian Goldberg, following a crash on March 1st, which took place near North Alameda Street and the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
Goldberg, suspected of “felony DUI of drugs with traffic collision,” sustained injuries to his face and head during the incident.
As officers and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were transferring Goldberg through the hospital, he became combative, attempting to get off the gurney.
Video evidence revealed Goldberg’s resistance, including attempts to bite officers’ hands and sleeves.
A “Categorical Use of Force” was reported during the altercation, involving an officer placing his hand against Goldberg’s throat and neck.
Despite the forceful encounter, Goldberg did not incur further injuries.
According to KTLA, the investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no additional details regarding the suspected DUI crash disclosed.
