Two police officers in Massachusetts were involved in a shootout earlier this morning in the town of Attleboro, engaging an armed suspect that shot several holes into their police cruiser.
Attleboro Police Department Chief Kyle Heagney told reporters that the officers were dispatched to the area in question after 911 was informed of an armed man at a church.
When the police arrived, the suspect began shooting at them, prompting the officers to return fire.
During the exchange, the suspect was wounded and the Attleboro Police SUV was hit several times.
All three individuals involved were sent to the hospital, though the officers sustained no injuries.
“The officers were not hurt. You can imagine they are under a great deal of stress right now due to this traumatic event,” Heagney told WCVB.
The area has since been blocked off and the incident is under investigation.
