Police in Maryland are investigating an incident in which a handcuffed man was fatally shot by an officer while sitting in a police cruiser.
The suspect in question had struck multiple vehicles near the Temple Hills community on Monday night and was also suspected of using PCP, spokeswoman Christina Cotterman stated.
Buckled into the front passenger seat of the vehicle, which Cotterman said is normal for Prince George’s County police, the suspect was reportedly involved in a struggle with the officer after the latter got into the driver’s seat.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, several loud bangs were heard, and the incident
was not captured on camera due to lack of personal recording equipment.
Despite attempts to revive him, the suspect succumbed to his wounds shortly after being shot.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave. The suspect hasn’t been identified to the public, as his family has yet to be notified.
