A search is underway for a man who allegedly pointed a gun at San Antonio police, prompting officers to shoot at him before he fled, officials said.

Officers were patrolling around the area of Babcock and Wurzbach on the Northwest Side just before 2:30 a.m. for an unrelated shots-fired call, when they came across a parking lot disturbance between a male and female involving a gun.

The male suspect was sitting in the driver’s side of a red pick-up and the female was standing outside the truck when officers pulled up, SAPD spokesman Cory Schuler said.

The officers “addressed the suspect and he was incompliant with their commands,” Schuler said. The suspect pointed the weapon at officers, who started firing at the man, shattering the window of the truck.

It is unknown whether the driver was hit. He fled in the vehicle, and police are still searching for him.

The female was detained for questioning and is cooperating with investigators, officials said.
