Police in East St. Louis are investigating a shootout that took place early Wednesday morning at a gas station.

Surveillance footage shows two black males -known felons within the community who are prohibited from owning firearms- shooting at each other in the parking lot at around 1AM, sending stray rounds flying through the air.

Bystanders were sent dashing for cover in an attempt to avoid being caught in the crossfire, with cameras inside the convenience store showing individuals diving beneath perishable goods in an attempt to shield themselves.

The two felons were driving high-end cars and were armed with pistols. The shootout caused thousands of dollars in damage to the convenience store.

According to FOX2Now, no one was injured in the gun battle.
