An 18-year-old suicidal man is in critical condition after shooting himself following a shootout with police in Normandy, MO.
The teen’s family had been seeking police and medical intervention when Normandy police arrived. As the officers exited their vehicles and tried to speak to the man, he pulled a gun from his waistband and began firing at the officers, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Officers attempted to deploy a taser on the suspect, which had no effect and one officer fired his gun at the man, but missed, according to police.

The teen fled out of sight, which was followed by the sound of a gunshot, which according to Normandy police Cpl Tameika Sanders, was the suspect shooting himself in the face. The teen suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. A gun was recovered at the scene.
The teen suspect’s family was following the events, and were caught on camera pleading with police to not return fire, as heard in the Twitter video above.
The officer who fired the shots at the teen has been on the Normandy police force for 12 years, according to police. All officers present were trained in crisis intervention, said Sanders.

Are you kidding me? This makes me so angry. The Twitter thing is nothing more than an attempt to discredit police who actually did everything thing they could to not “shoot her baby”. As a parent of a police officer, I also don’t want anyone to shoot my baby.
If you don’t want shot at, don’t shoot at anyone else. Honestly this kind of crap is what gives Black Lives Matter a bad name, and I really think they were started to make a positive change.
