A “significant number” of police were deployed to Frankfurt’s red-light district after a male stripper was spotted with what appeared to be a rifle and body armor emblazoned with an “FBI” patch.
The 30-year-old Hungarian stripper was cornered at a table-dancing bar, where he said the items were part of a costume for his performance.
The weapon turned out to be a plastic replica “but had deceiving similarities to a G36 assault rifle,” according to a police statement.
According to NBC, the stripper was permitted to perform on Saturday, though the police state that “whether his act was a success is not known.”
Spokesman for Frankfurt Police Andre Sturmeit says that Frankfurt prosecutors will have to evaluate whether or not the possession of the replica violates any of Germany’s strict gun laws.
