Video recorded on a Florida State Trooper’s dashcam revealed a case of mistaken identity in November.

On November 29, the Florida Highway Patrol received a report of a car fleeing a traffic stop and driving recklessly.

After receiving the report, Trooper Walner Wroy activated his lights and sirens and began searching for the vehicle.

After only a few minutes, according to Local10, he spotted a dark-colored KIA Stinger speeding along and cutting through traffic and began pursuit.

He pursued the vehicle off the highway and through a red traffic light before deciding to execute a PIT maneuver.

After stopping the KIA, the driver turned out to be Opa-Locka Police Captain Cory Krotenberg.

“Opa-locka police told Local 10 News Krotenberg was participating in a multi-agency gang task force operation and that a police helicopter was above helping officers on the road track a suspect vehicle that was involved in a violent crime.”

Florida Highway Patrol said Trooper Wroy was not cleared of any wrongdoing and Opa-locka police said Captain Krotenberg was not violating any department policies either.

Local 10 inquired with the Opa-Locka police department to see if they believed the incident could have been avoided if Captain Krotenberg used his emergency lights but the department declined to comment further.
