A New Jersey state trooper has been suspended without pay for pulling over women to ask them out, then lying about it to cover it up.
Several women reportedly complained about the Union County trooper after he apparently pulled them over to ask them out on a date or to get their phone numbers.
The women were between the ages of 20 and 35, according to the State Police Office of Professional Standards. Trooper Marquice Prather, who is 37 years old, was arrested on Dec 9.
He’s been charged with tampering with public records and falsifying records. NBC 10 reports that Prather tried to cover up the improper stops by turning off his microphone. He then allegedly lied about it later, in the official report, saying the mic malfunctioned.
According to the local NBC affiliate, several women came forward to file complaints against Prather and accused him of improper conduct. When investigators later contacted other women, they also made similar allegations against him.
