A suspect is in jail after shooting a Louisiana State Trooper and two officers during a standoff in Avoyelles Parish.
According to Sheriff Douglas Anderson, the trooper and a local police officer approached the window of a home, to negotiate with a man barricaded inside, when the suspect aimed a shotgun at the officers and pulled the trigger, ABC News 2 reports.
Sheriff Anderson tells News 2, the standoff started following a car chase early Thursday afternoon near the town of Hessmer.
News 2 reports the trooper has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Sources tell News 2 the trooper was shot in the shoulder.
The second officer, who was shot in the lip, was treated at the scene. The third officer’s injuries are not known at this time, News 2 reports.
According to the sheriff’s office, reports News 2, Brandon Arthur Carpenter is identified as the suspect.
